I heard a loud noise outside the house this morning. When I quickly ran out the front door this is what I found...
Kalyssa drove a 4-wheeler into the garage door!!!
Bailee, Kalyssa's (much older) friend, picks her up with the 4-wheeler most mornings for them to work and feed the lambs at the barn. When they were done, Kalyssa asked Bailee if she could drive, and assured Bailee she can handle it. Well... her judgment was off today. She was going too fast and couldn't stop the 4-wheeler in time and ran into our garage door pretty hard. Luckily no one was hurt.
My Yukon takes up the full length of the garage and its parked right behind the door. She hit it off-center so the door bent around the bumper and didn't damage the Yukon at all... Whew! That was close!
We had someone come out a few hours later to look at it and give us an estimate on the damages and costs to have it fixed. Unfortunately, this type of door isn't made anymore, so we can't just replace a couple bent panels like we hoped. We have to replace the whole door for $595.00 + $50.00 for labor fees. OMGosh! Thanks goodness for the "emergency fund" we've had stashed away... cause this is our first emergency. But Kalyssa will have to pay for a portion of it with her lamb money she gets from the fair this year... AND no driving 4-wheelers until she gets some more lessons from Brandon.
The only good thing out of this is our new garage door will be nicer and an almond color to match our house better instead of this old ancient brown I've been wanting to paint over since we moved in. It will take 2 weeks to get here, but whatever. :)
Then later in the day, I heard the huge fan on our air conditioner freeze up and it was making a really loud screeching sound until I shut it off! Really!!!? ANOTHER big, expensive repair?! We leave for a Farm Bureau convention in the morning... I guess we'll deal with it when we get home in a couple of days. Ugh.
