Our 5 Year Anniversary

Friday, Day 1:
We're celebrating 5 years of marriage!
As always, our actual anniversary date isn't until Sept 26th, but we have to celebrate it a month early every year so not to interfere with corn chopping season {starts the first week in Sept}.
Brandon won't tell me where we're staying tonight, but we went for a ride up Ben Lomond Peak first thing. The last time we rode all the way to the top we were still dating and watched the pioneer day fireworks all over the valley from up here. :)

Brandon enjoying the view. Ugh... Men.
Gotta love the things I find on my camera when I wasn't looking. ;0)

Here's the real view of Willard Bay below.

I haven't ridden my dirt bike in a few months. It takes me a little bit to get used to it again.

On the way down, I was feeling really comfortable on my bike... I was practicing riding standing up, and leaning into my turns... feeling lots more confident. :)

Brandon is a pro. His bike has lots more power. He rode in front of me, and would take off on trials, then come back to check on me, and make sure I didn't go off the side of the mountain. LOL.

Good Times.

Then we checked into our room at the cozy Providence Inn. It's an old LDS church that's been converted into a bed and breakfast.

They have weddings in the old chapel and have some themed rooms. Ours was called the New Orleans room.

The shower and tub was pretty awesome. *wink wink*

We ate dinner at a popular Mexican restaurant in Logan, Cafe Sabor. I threw my healthy eating rules out the window this weekend... I enjoyed chips and salsa, beans and rice, enchiladas, lots of candy, coke zero, and ice cream... and didn't feel bad about it or give it a second thought. You gotta do that for yourself sometimes. :)

Saturday, Day 2:
I woke up and went for a run this morning. I feel so much better when I do, so it can't be skipped {even on an anniversary weekend away}. When I got back, we had breakfast in our room. We usually stay at the Anniversary Inn and they only give you a muffin for breakfast... I loved the Providence Inn's breakfast so much better! They actually cook you a real breakfast... Brandon had french toast, and I had an omelet with hash browns. I enjoyed every drop of my chocolate milk!!! Mmmmm... chocolate milk.

We had a cute canopy bed in our room.

This is the front of the chapel. It gives the Old Rock Church's history. We toured the whole church last night after we ate dinner. It was cool, there is still drinking fountains in the hallways like churches still have today. All the classrooms have been changed into hotel rooms. Pretty neat. It was a cozy little place to stay. They ask you not to smoke or bring alcohol into the building to keep it sacred. We thought that was really cool.

My sister, Mary, tended Will, Paisley and Emmy all night for us. This morning she text me saying that she had a rough night with her baby, Avrie, and to come get our kids sooner rather than later like we planned. We were going to go on more rides today, but we checked out at 11:00 am and went home to get the kids instead. Mary didn't get much sleep. We were super bummed, but it was nice to get one night away at least.

Brandon still had today off, so we took advantage of it. We picked up the kids, packed some food, and drove up to one of our favorite spots on the river by Porcupine Dam.

Willie got a fishing pole a few weeks ago for his birthday. It has a red rubber fish you can cast into the water and reel it in.

He's been casting it all over the house and it gets caught on all the furniture... today, he gets to use it like it was meant to be used... in the water! :)

Emmy is walking in and out of the water, and loving her rubber boots.

Paisley is thinking about it...

Splashing is a good time.

Emmy sees that Brandon has cheese puffs and runs up the bank to get some...

...and she falls. This was the first fall, and many more to come...

Will is so good at casting his fish. He throws it across the river and gets it stuck in the trees on the other side sometimes. We had to tell him to cast it down the river, not across to the other side in the bushes! :)

A cheese puff break.

Emmy is getting cheese puffs from Brandon so she can throw them in and watch it float down the river.

Paisley got her hands wet then fell in the dirt and rubbed her face.

I took her down to the water to clean her off

Now she's playing in the water...

...and has soaked her not-so-water-proof-boots. Oh well.

Will was walking in the river and fell in. LOL.

"Ah... I'm soaked!"

He doesn't like having his shirt wet I guess.

As he was walking over to me, he fell in again. Haha.

Paisley had Will's fishing pole and wrapped Emmy in the fishing line... she was mad, mad, MAD... and let her know it!

Suckers make peace and are a great reason to sing with your twin sister. :)

Brandon is using Will's spider-man fishing pole.

He wasn't as good at casting the fish out as Willie was. Haha.

Will went out to get the fish, and fell in again... but this time the river current was pushing him down stream... Brandon jumped in after him.

Will was pretty upset. Brandon didn't like getting his boots and pants wet either.

Have a sucker Will...

Now Paisley is caught in the fishing line.

Emmy falls again.

I showed Emmy how to cast the fish out.

The river is beautiful.... our spot is tucked away from the road and private. It's gorgeous... and the weather was PERFECT today. This is East Fork Little Bear River.

Willie has two suckers at a time. A green one and a blue one.

Emmy is trying to fish by herself now.

We drove home about an hour before dark on Canyon Rd, from Avon to Liberty, then through the North Ogden Divide to home. I love that drive! The East Fork Little Bear River breaks off on Canyon Rd and turns into South Fork Little Bear River and runs along that road for most of the way to Liberty. It's full of trees, flowers, and animals... we let the kids crawl around the Yukon and hang out the windows. There is almost no other cars on the long dirt road, so it's a chill slow journey home. Once we made it back in the city we stopped at Kirt's to get a burger and a shake for dinner. After that I was more than ready to start eating Paleo again first thing Sunday morning! Haha.

Happy 5 years Brandon :)
You are the glue that holds me together. I love you more now than ever, and am proud of the amazing man you are.
Simply put... you're the best.
