I was so excited to go with Abbee on her field trip to Ogden's Nature Center...
We walked around the pond real quietly to see if we could see any animals. We saw some turtles and ducks. We stopped at this look out over the pond. The kids got real excited when they saw 2 deer come out.
Abbee and her 2nd grade class sat on the steps for a picture with their teacher Mrs. Thinnis.
A 3rd deer came out as we walked on the trail.
The Nature's Center Leader taught us about insects, and what Macro Invertebrates are, and dressed up this little boy as a water insect.
Then they looked at insects threw a microscope. I got one in focus and it was so gross!
One of the workers found a snake outside and brought it in for the kids to see. Abbee's face is funny here. Haha. The kids were touching it and our Leader put a stop to it pretty fast. She said the whole experience was probably stressing out the snake. Which I'm sure was true, but I've never met someone so concerned about "preserving nature's habitat" before. :)
We went to a different pond and saw these 2 turtles on a log.
At this pond, the kids were given nets to see if they could catch insects in the water.
They mostly caught leeches, but they weren't the blood sucking kind.
They washed their hands and we all ate lunch outside. I'm so glad I could go with her this time. :)
