Kalyssa's last field trip in 1st grade. They went to Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake. Me and William could go with her, so I followed the school bus there. It was so cute, Kalyssa made the 3 of us special name tags the day before at school. All the students and parents entered at the South Gate, so first we saw Llamas, Ostrich, Wolves, and Tigers.
We walked through the Small Animal Building and saw little cute monkeys, crocodiles, and snakes.
These huge turtles were in there too, and lots of colorful birds, and a sloth.
They rode the Conservation Carousel...
This is Willie's 1st time on a carousel.
We checked out the elephants. The only way to describe them to Will was to say, " Look, Dumbo!" lol... he's been watching that movie a lot lately.
They sat on these tree-carved horses, but I couldn't get both of them to look at me at the same time. :)
This dinosaur was popular with the kids. It spits water at you about every minute.
I packed us a lunch. All the teachers and students met at the American Express Pavilion to eat. It's basically a huge tent with tables inside, but we ate on the grass nearby.
All aboard the Zoofari Express!
This was probably Will's 1st train ride too! We had to wait in line while the train took a couple trips around. He was not happy when it kept leaving without him! He was pretty excited when it was our turn.
This giant elephant makes noises right before it blows air out of its nose. Will has his fingers in the holes before he knew what was coming. It shot air out and he jumped so high and ran towards me. It was hilarious.
The two of them played at the playground in Discovery Land. The snake slide seemed to be their favorite.
She is such a great helper with Will. :)
We looked at the Gorillas and Orangutans. Looks like Kalyssa is just a little taller than an adult female gorilla.
By this time, it's 3 o'clock and Will took a nap. Kalyssa was getting sad cause most of the students had left already. She was excited to find her friend, Hailee. They rode the Carousel together.
We missed the giraffes on the way in the zoo, so we visited them out on our way out. I can't believe how tall they are... they're super cool animals.
We also passed the Bighorn Sheep, and Kalyssa stopped for a drink at this Lion drinking fountain. It's 4 o'clock and sooo time to go! The zoo was closing soon, and we were there all day. I forgot that the zoo is all steep hills everywhere you go. I had enough hiking for one day. :)
