Here we are! Today is the first day of the fair, and the lamb show is bright and early...
Brandon and Abbee by the lamb stalls. Abbee told me yesterday that she is nervous, but I know she'll do great.
Baylee and Abbee's lambs are in the same weight class and are competing against each other. Bay is second to the last on the left side and Ab is second to last on the right.
Baylee leading Tinker around the show ring. Bay got 2nd place in her weight class for Market Lamb!
Abbee leading Tank. She did so well and I could tell she tried hard to do her best. She got 8th place in her weight class out of 10 kids. They all get a blue ribbon.
Will went back to the stalls with Brandon while I stayed by the show ring. A good 30 minutes later I hear that William is missing!!! A group of us were searching like crazy... Katrina found him on this ramp playing with some boys and their wiggle cars. And just in time... I was about to cry!
The boys were nice and let Will have turns on the wiggle cars, or he'd run down and chase them while they raced. He is such a turd to wonder off! He is everyone's friend.
All the 1st and 2nd place winners from every class compete together for Grand Champion and Reserve Market Lamb. There was 22 finalists. The place you win here determines the order you'll be in at the auction on Saturday. Grand Champion gets the most money at the auction, and usually each lamb gets less than the lamb before it. Baylee got 21st place with her lamb, so I hope she does okay. Abbee didn't make it to the finalists, so we have no idea what place she'll be in at the auction. But either way... we're proud of them both and their efforts for all summer.
Baylee and Grandma Mitzi.
The kids keep wet towels on their lambs to keep them comfortable and relaxed.

Abbee was showing Emmy her lamb. Every time it would baaa she'd flinch and started crying.
The girls posters and ribbons above their lamb stall.
Will and his buddy Kimball check out the pigs.

Baylee and Tinker in front of the prop. Bay looks so much older than her 2010 fair picture. :)
Abbee and Tank... for her first year showing.
Kalyssa and Will pose too... :)
Brandon and I with the girls...
They are next to show for the Junior Showmanship competition.
There is 2 classes for the Junior Showmanship cause its a big group of kids. Abbee is first and waits in line with Brandon. The lambs have halters on until right before they walk in the show ring.
Baylee and her friends wait for their turn next.
Will sticks his hand in the bunny cages to poke them so they'll hop... he just went down the line poking each one. I had to get him out of there.
Kalyssa loved this bunny. It just sat there and let her pet it.
Emmy looking at the bunnies from her stroller.
Paisley was soooo tired. She finally fell asleep on Aunt Julie.
Abbee in her Showmanship competition.
She is trying so hard to set-up her lamb for the judge. She did very well and placed in the top 6 and will be a finalist to compete again later in the top 12.
Baylee's turn showing in Junior Showmanship.
Baylee made it in the top 6 also!
So the final 12 came back to compete together and neither one placed in the top 3, so the judge congratulates them. :)
Brandon and Will watch the parents compete for fun...
Karl is in the teal shirt... he is our 4-H Sideways Show Team leader.
It was funny to watch him show his daughter's lamb. He got 3rd place, and his oldest daughter beat him and took 2nd.
Well done Baylee & Abbee!
